This is my part from the ESNC video entitled,96 Mentality. It was filmed in Lawrence, MA and Portland, ME over the spring and summer of 2011. Looking back on it, it's pretty crazy to think I turned 30 while working on this project. And, I have clips in this part that were filmed a week after I fractured my left wrist and right thumb.

Ducky Boys and Hudson Falcons. Geno's 02.04.12

I can't really quantify in words how hyped I was on this show. I have been listening to The Ducky Boys since 1998 when I got my hands on a copy of Dark Days and I have been real into the Hudson Falcons since my friend Jason Hazlett picked up a copy of Desperation and Revolution back in 2001. Jay and I definitely put back many beers in Lowell, MA listening to that album. Sidenote: Jay used to also brew homemade cider in these plastic water containers before we were 21. And I'll tell ya, he used to make a mean fuckin cider. That ghetto-ass homebrew would fuck you up!

So anyway, Lenny Lashley of Darkbuster fame opened the show. I got to Geno's just as he finished so I missed his set. This is par for the course for me with Lenny Lashley performances in Portland. The dude always plays way too fucking early. He's cool as shit though and if ya need a soundtrack to berr drinking check out his musical endeavors.

Moving on, the Hudson Falcons are completely amazing. If there was any justice in the music world they would have the support of a major label and be the nationally recognized ambassador's of the current Jersey Shore Sound. Unfortunately, main stream America is force fed a diet of safe, gentrified, sterile rock consisting of a band whom I will not even name on my webpage.

The Ducky Boys headlined the show and it was incredible. As I mentioned earlier I have been listening to them for a long time and it's always great to see them live. They ripped through a lot of classics as well as some new tunes from there recently released album entitled, Chasing the Ghost. Which I highly recommend. Mark Lind has a way of writing songs that anybody can relate to. He basically puts into song exactly what you are feeling. For real, if your going through tough times it's cathartic to listen to Ducky Boys tunes and know somebody went through the same shit.

ESNC Video Premiere in Dover, NH.

Red Alert. It is a skate shop and skate park. The premiere is this upcoming Saturday, February 11 at 5pm. There will be a Best Trick contest. I also put in an order to have some more 96 Mentality Shirts screened with the intent of giving them all away. So, come out next Saturday, skate, chill and get some free shit.

MOTORHEAD 01.29.12

The fellas and I road tripped it down to Lowell, MA on Sunday to check out the Motorhead show at Tsongas Arena. I lived in Lowell for four years and it was great to get down there and visit for a bit. I wasn't old enough to hit up bars when I lived there so I was pretty stoked to grab a couple or six beers before the show. My friend Tony Le who lives in Lowell met up with us and brought us to this really cool spot that has free pool.

Megadeth headlined the show. I never really listened to these dudes before but they were pretty good. Definitely talented with some good songs.

Dave Mustaine was rocking this beast of a guitar when the show opened.

It was one hell of a night with the homies! We all got home safe despite run ins with the cops, gallons of booze being consumed and traveling out of state. Don't get much better than that.

Checked out the Educated Advocates show at SpAcE Gallery on Saturday night. A large group of my friends were kicking it and it was cool checking out some local rap. These guys were pretty good.

My good friend from way back, Ben Skrzypek was back in Portland for a couple days and I was hyped. I had Monday off so we got to kick it and catch up. I hadn't seen him in years and it was rad to hang out with him again.

I met up with Ben and Shaheen at the Crow Bar around 9:30. We put down a couple beers before poetry night jumped off after which we made a quick exit. So to any of you's that want a forum to do spoken word check out the Crow Bar on Monday nights. Everybody was super supportive of the people that stood up.

We headed over to Novare Res after for a few pints and despite having to be up for work early on Tuesday I couldn't leave. It was too much fun hanging out with the homies! So, here I am super tired on Tuesday night but so hyped on the good times!!!

We premiered the ESNC video on Friday night at Re-Session skate shop in Portland, ME and it was a super fun time. The shop was packed and I couldn't have asked for a better turnout. Big ups to Gary for hosting the event!

I met up with my friend Tim and headed down to Rosie's to grab a bunch of beers. It was cool to catch up with him because he just did a couple reunion shows with his band in Boston and Los Angeles and we hadn't been able to pile out in the Old Port for awhile. The homie Chris Linkovich met up with us, too. The photo below is just of Chris because Tim was eschewing the camera. This is at Rosie's before we went to 80's night at Asylum. 80's night at the Asylum is in the basement and it smelled so bad. It was like hanging out in somebody's arm pit.

I recently designed the logo for MaineToday Printing. It is the commercial print arm of MaineToday Media. The 4 blocks on the left represent the 4 color plates used in the color print process. This was one of the most enjoyable logo design's I have created as it only went back and forth a couple times in the development process. If you ever happen to see it around, I made it!

New Year's Eve was pretty fuckin sick this year. I started the night off down at my friend Dave Labbe's house and met up with a bunch of the homies down there. A good chunk of the Portland skate scene was in attendance and it was a great start to the night.

I had Monday off and was looking forward to kicking it around my house but the homie Dan Foster hit me up saying he was downtown. I grew up skating with Dan and when he moved to Boston he used to let me crash on his couch every weekend. That was back in 1999 and being 17 and living in Maine, to be chilling in Boston was fucking epic. The city seemed huge at the time and being able to skate Turtles, Copley and a bunch of other landmark Boston skate spots was a dream. Fast forward 12 years and I hadn't seen Dan in forever, so I was stoked to grab some beers downtown and catch up.

Wu-Tang played the State Theater on Tuesday and it was sick. They opened with a lot of old school bangers. Getting into the show was a bit ridiculous, though. You had to get frisked and searched. I almost didn't go out on Saturday night because we shredded it so hard on Friday night. But you know how it goes, 8 O'clock rolls around, the homies start hitting you up and there's no way your staying in. Good times await and the way I always looked at it is that you only get so many Saturday night's in your life. So you gotta take advantage of every single one.

I started off at my friend Geoff Bogle's house and after kicking back a few PBR's we headed up to Empire. I really dig this place. It was crowded but with a lot of open space and $2 High Life pounders.

Everyday People.

This is my part from a video entitled, "Everyday People". It was filmed in 2004 right after I moved back to Maine after living in Lowell, Massachusetts for 5 years.
Looking back, it was a really special time. The skate scene was really strong, especially in Mid-Coast Maine and people were skating hard all the time. After this was finished a lot of people moved onto other things, be it joining the Navy or pursuing other activities. The skate scene took a hiatus of sorts up until the last year or so. I can honestly say that I have never seen anything like what's going down in Portland these days. All my friends are completely killing it and with people around to film and shoot photo's it seems the motivation level stays constantly high.
I couldn't be more stoked to live in Portland and see some amazing shit go down on the regular!

'96 Mentality.

Jay Brown released a trailer for the upcoming ESNC video entitled, "96 Mentality".
He did an amazing job and I couldn't be more stoked on it.

The video was filmed over this past summer, here in Portland, ME. With Jay pulling triple duty, as not only the editor of the video but also the primary filmer and director.

We decided to name the project "96 Mentality" because that label embodies our collective viewpoint on skateboarding. "96" representing the year 1996 and "Mentality" to attach our mindset to a specific era.

ESNC is no way saying, "1996 skateboarding is better than 2011 skateboarding". It's just a banner to wave along side modern day skating.

This weekend was hella fun. A bunch of my friends from Massachusetts came up to skate and hangout in Portland. We skated a whole bunch but I didn't take any photo's of skating. This post consists mostly of everybody partying.

For me, it's the raddest shit to hangout with all your friends and kick back a swimming pool's worth of beer after skating all day. Saturday night was no exception. We rolled deep in the bar and just partied. It's the best feeling being surrounded by a huge group of your friends and having absolutely no worries on a Saturday night. All the real world shit just slides to the peripheral (bills, jobs, whatever bullshit your dealing with) and it's nothing but good times.

Alright, so to get this train wreck of a post back on track, peep the pics.

I was super hyped that my friend Tim Nichols came up to Portland. He is from Lowell, MA and he is a straight up epic dude. I've been on a lot of road trips with Nichols and he is always the one skating and charging long after everybody else is done. I have seen this guy do some legendary shit on a skateboard and in just life in general. Seeing Portland PD pull a two foot long dagger out of his backpack in the Old Port is just one of the many incredible stories I got about Nichols.

Anyway, about this photo. Nichols and Sean Hernandez both got their boards confiscated skating a spot in Kittery, ME. So, being in a pinch, Nichols had to skate this gem of a board.

I was equally stoked my friend Sean Hernandez made the trip up. He was the first skater I met when I moved to Lowell, MA in 1999. 'Nandez is one of the raddest dudes ever and we have shared many miles on the road. From New york to Philly and everywhere in between, we had some crazy hellrides over the years. This guy has legendary tales as well. He once hauled a bench back from a bar in the Old Port, eight blocks over his shoulder to my apartment on the Hill, for the hell of it. I returned the bench exactly on year later to the day. I can't help but smile when I think of how it must have been the talk of the bar for at least a week. The bench just re-appearing and shit. After he stole the bench the bar used five gallon buckets and two by four's to make a seat.
That story is tame compared to some of the wild shit this dude would do. I just don't wanna post anything incriminating.

Fast forward a few hours and here we are at Amigo's. I was super stoked my friends Nate Keegan and Garrett Davis came up to shred and drink beers. Nate and Garrett are some of the raddest dudes as well. They both completely kill it on skateboards and can hold it down in the bar like no one's business. Everybody was rowdy as all hell and it made for super fun times.

This is Nate and my homeboy Elliott Vecchia. Elliott decided to stay up in Portland after the rest of the crew from MA bailed and I was so hyped! Elliott fuckin' rules and I was stoked to have him up in Maine kickin back beers and partying.

This is a portion of all the homies kickin' it up in Amigo's on Saturday night. I wish I had a photo of everybody together but I would have needed to clear an entire section of the bar to fit everybody in. Regardless, it was an epic weekend and these are the photo's I have to show for it. Hope you all had a great weekend, too!

I had to stay at work late on Friday night so I decided that I was gonna tie one the fuck down when I got of work. And I'll tell ya, it was off the hook.

We started out at Amigo's as that is basically the only bar we ever drink at.
Jay, Matt and Charlie were in attendance along with the rest of the usual suspects.

We dipped out of Amigo's and headed to a house party on Grant street. But not without stopping by Simple Sandwich first and grabbing beers. I bought a six pack of Schlitz pounders that ran me over ten bucks. This is Labbe climbing shit.

The fellas and I filmed a short video this weekend. It was thought up by Matt Seavey and filmed and will be edited by Jay Brown. The video involved suits, skateboards, the foundation spot, a thirty pack of PBR and me - dressed up as a cop. It was super fun being a part of it and I had a blast getting a cop outfit. It looked super legit.

With the absence of lights at Oceangate and the blown out ground on Federal street I had to find a new spot to skate at night. The photo below is where I post out everynight. The cars that drive by are so confused at the seemingly random choice of a spot for a dude to be skating that they either drive by super fast, or go super slow. I love it down there though. It's my skate plaza, haha.

Check out this DIY (Do-It-Yourself) concrete spot in Portland. It's super fun and the fellas did an amazing job building it. It has a huge amount of untapped space as well. Portland has a great public concrete skatepark but the DIY spot is more my style. It's like a party when you hangout there. The homies will be rolling 15 deep with beers in tow just skating and chilling.

I drained two out of three after putting back 8 beers and not having played beer pong in years. Was pretty stoked. My teammate had a Pogues shirt on, too. Which I was SUPER hyped on. The weather is holding up pretty good here in Maine. My only complaint is the short days. Anyway, I got up at nine because some dude had to fix my kitchen sink and toilet because they caused the water bill to jump 25%. In the process he made my bathroom sink start leaking which it never did before. Fix one thing, break another. Bogus.

Damn, the weather was ill as fuck today. 80 degrees in October? Love it. I'm cheers-ing my can of Schlitz to this weather. Anyway, went skating with a bunch of my friends and it was hella fun.

This is a fun spot in Portland. Newly paved ground and a smooth bump. If you fuck up though, your board will shoot into heavy traffic on Commercial Street coming around a blind curve. Adds a lil spice to the experience.

Traveled down to Dover, NH on Saturday with Jay Brown, Ben Cironi and Alex Winslow. We met up with Garrett Davis and James Engle at the Dover skate park which is super fun. After cruising that for a bit we hit up a couple spots.

While en route we passed by this super sweet Camaro. I'm going to buy one day so I can do burnouts and bring my wife to drive-in movies in style. Not that I'm married, I'm just saying it's gonna happen one day. Oh. and that's Jay Brown on the left.

First spot we went to was this handrail. The 'fellas made it work with a few modifications.

Steve Dolan and Ryan Hart chilling at Amigo's. They were both out on the town with there wives and I was hyped to catch up with them. Dolan used to rip Nollie 5-0 Grinds back in 1995. The dude killed it.

I have seen a lot of things while out skating but this was new for me. A boat somehow crashed against a parked Ford Explorer on Marginal Way. I'd like to hear the story about that one.

I've seen this tag around town and I always wanted to get a photo of it. I was stoked on it because a) it's a fuckin ridiculous tag and b) it can be read two ways. "Bogus Lives" - as in, our "lives are bogus" OR "Bogus Lives" as in there is a dude named "Bogus" and he "Lives". I prefer the second meaning.

Reckless Tyler back 5050ing in the dangerzone. You have to hit this ledge at a 90 degree angle from the sidewalk and it drops 15 feet over the other side of the fence. Backside 5050 is the sketchiest trick to do on this thing. He back fived it, too.

One of my best friends got married this weekend and it was an amazing time. Congratulations to Geoff and Siobhan Bogle! I'm used to a very fast paced lifestyle and this weekend was non-stop partying and kicking it with all my best friends from back in the day. It was one of the greatest weekends I have ever had. From when I got out of work early at 5pm on Friday until 9:30am on Sunday it was a rollercoaster ride.

After the wedding rehersal and the fellas putting a Shipyard keg to bed we headed back to our hotel room. We were originally supposed to be in a large suite that would comfortably fit 7 dudes but Hampton Inn fucked it up and we ended up in a one bedroom room, haha. We checked in at 12am with cases of beer in tow and immediately the hotel staff was tripping and threatening to call the cops as we walked in. It was fucking ridiculous. It didn't help that when we walked in the room one of the fellas had already bricked it with smoke. And I'm not talking cigarette smoke.

Bedtime. Sean set up shop in the kitchen/entryway. He had the illest air mattress but the crappiest blanket and froze his ass off all night.

Jward looked like a bigass LiteBrite doll. I don't have a picture of it but I posted out under a fucking desk. As crammed as it was, and as bad as it smelled with six dudes farting all night it was super fun camping out with the homies like we we're in middle school.

The wedding cake was epic. It had running water and shit. Siobhan's dad made it and what a great fucking job he did. Seriously, have you ever see a cake like that?

I don't have any pictures of the actual wedding because I was one of the groomsmen and our primary responsibility was to look handsome while standing next to Geoff and not to take photos. This is during dinner as Phil was giving his speech. JWard also gave a speech and ended it with "And, I would also like to add that, Wu-Tang is for the children." He eased it in at the end of the speech so well and sounded so serious that none of the older folk even questioned the claim. It was awesome. They were like, "Yes, Wu-Tang must be for the children."

After the photos we hungout with the bridesmaids before being introduced to the crowd. We were to walk into a big hall in front of all the wedding guests and be introduced. Literally, 10 seconds before we were to wok-inn, in front of the entire crowd Sean got beer spilled all over his suit. It was one of the funniest moments of the weekend. The timing was impeccable and it is really only something that would happen to Sean. So ridiculous.

My good friend Geoff Bogle is getting married soon. For his bachelor party extravaganza a bunch of us dudes drove up to the Forks and drank lot's of booze, bummed out everybody at the campground and had a wonderful time chilling in the woods. It was a super fun weekend. We were unstoppable and that campground is not gonna see anything like us ever again.

This is the door of a house I took a pic of on my way home from work. It's made of particle board and the house number is spray painted on it. How sick is that? The house is for sale, too. Toebee Parkhurst ollied this. It is one of the worst spots ever. If he didn't ollie it, I wouldn't even call it a spot. The ground is terrible and the slabs of granite are only slightly slanted. Kinda like my eyes. You know, I'm only half Asian. And it's the better half. My Swedish side is responsible for my proclivity towards listening to Merle Haggard, smoking Camel Lights and sleeping with random women. The Swedish side is more fun for sure.

I typically eschew taking photo's of auto collisions out of respect for the parties involved and the fact that someone may have been injured or possibly worse. As far as I know nobody was seriously hurt in the following photo's so I'm posting them because it's pretty fucking gnarly. My friend Geoff Bogle called me at noon today and told me there was a rollover at the intersection of Park and Spring streets so I grabbed my board and skated down.

Jay Brown hit me up to skate some spots in Brunswick and this is one he had in mind. This place was so rad. It's spots like this that remind me how amazing it is to be a skateboarder. There is no other reason I would be kicking it in some abadoned warehouse if it were'nt for skating.

I met up with Ben Cironi and Sam Mckenna today with the intention of skating some spots in Lewiston.

Cironi was killin' it with a moustache and cheeseburger.

We somehow missed Lewiston and ended up in Augusta. This is a photo of perhaps the greatest gas station bathroom in history. At least the very greatest I have ever seen. I felt like I was in someone's house. I bet its won awards.

Driving home I had to pull off the highway for a bit because it was raining so hard that I could see nothing. It was sketchy. The "X" is where we were located.

This is the sign at the entrance to the parking lot we kicked it in while the storm passed by. You know how rules are usually made out of neccessity? Like it usually takes someone to do something first and then the rule or in this case sign is put up? I can only imagine what prompted this sign.

This was some crazy shit going on in the West End. We we're skating some spots and saw this fiasco.

After skating I kicked it with Jay Brown and had some beers with the intention of going to the Lenny Lashley show at Geno's but me and Jay drank too many beers and I ended showing up at Geno's for 30 seconds of Lenny's last song. I thought it was pretty funny and had to laugh. I literally walked in, grabbed a PBR and got up front and he's like, "...Thank you Portland!" Haha. So I stayed to check out the other bands and this is "Old Man Markley" all the way from Los Angeles.

They have an electric violin player and every time I see an electric violin I ALWAYS hope it's gonna go down like this: Peep this YouTube vid.

But unfortunately it never does. Maybe this post will inspire some violin playin mutha faccckkkkkaaaa to git down!

Now this is just remarkable. I don't know what that girl is playing but it looks like an electric harp accordian type thing but the best part of this photo is the dude shredding the washboard. Look at him! The "Markleys" are a big band so on top of being INCREDIBLY meticulous with there sound it took awhile to go through each members instrument. I was anticipating that they would sound check the washboard. And I was giggling at the thought because I don't think I would have been able to hold back the laughter if they did that shit.

20 Shot Sequence

"20 Shot Sequence" is one of my favorite skateboard videos and fortuneatly enough we have a sidewalk bump in Portland that is very reminiscent of a bump they skated in that video. Toebee Parkhurst instantly named it the "Menace" bump upon viewing it for the first time. And for good reason. It is exactly like the one skated repeatedly in "20 Shot Sequence" and I'm stoked on it.

The parking lot at Ocean Gate has become one of my favorite spots to skate flatground lately. It's out of the way, on the ocean and has some manual pads and other things to mess around on. We basically spent all day there on Saturday.

I'm listening to Johnny Cash and his live in Folsom Prison album. How sick is that? Straight up played a show in one of the most infamous prisons in America. You can't find many artists these days with that kind of character. One of my goals in life is to play a bunch of Johnny Cash acoustic covers to a bar full of rowdy mother fuckers in a dive bar. That shit would be super fun. You know, imagine chicken wire across the stage and shit. I like that kind of stuff. Wild Turkey, PBR and fistfights and stuff. Fun times for sure.

Had a super fun crew to skate with this weekend. Jay Brown, Max Fenwick, Toebee Parkhurst and myself hit up some spots and enjoyed the nice weather. This spot was super good. Especially for being up in Northern Maine. Smooth granite ledges and ground are hard to come by up in these paaaahhhts.

Toebee ollied this rail multiple times with ease. The angle was super harsh but he didn't have a problem with it.

Max Fenwick filmed a super fresh line up in here. I was so stoked on it. This is Max mid-shredding. He has the sickest full back tattoo of "Starry Night" courtesy of Sanctuary Tattoo as well.

Check it out. This is my new electric razor. It was $10 at Burlington Coat Factory and as you can see above it is comprised of 15 mini razor blades that spin at a high velocity. It sounds like a vacuum when you turn it on. It shaves worse than my 5 year old Norelco that I have never changed the blades on. Basically, it's awesome.

These people we're fighting in the rain yesterday.

Got up late and skated flatground on that walking path down on Marginal Way. Tough solo sesh. Fuckin ate it so many times but it was all good. Did the twenties and headed downtown to drink beers and hangout.

This is at my friend Chad's loft on Silver Street in Portland. His place is so fuckin sick. Chad's crib is stylin and I'm gonna be rocking a place like that one day! Anyway, some arm wrasslin went down as well as a bunch of beers. Fun times.

Then Geoff and I bounced down to Amigo's. This is Geoff, Eric Frenz and Max Fenwick. While we we're at this bar I ended up doling out relationship counseling. My relationship counseling was basically asking Amy (the distrought girl), "Is this the guy?" then walking over to her boyfriend and saying, "You see that girl over there? She really likes you. She loves you. Don't fuck it up. You got a good thing going with her." Haha. I re-united the miserable pair and they went home happy. They shoulda bought me a fuckin beer for that.

This is Mont 5050ing a rail in Portland last Sunday. This spot is ridiculous. I tied the rail to the wall with a plastic Hannaford bag so it wouldn't move - a year ago! And it still held up. The hill is steep and the rail is sketchy. Mont prevailed though!

After skating the courthouse for a bit we ended up down at the Commercial street metal benches. People that work at the building next to these benches get really bummed on people skating them because they claim that each bench cost $5000! You gotta be fuckin kidding me! $5000! They gotta be pretty well made though because we have skated the shit out of them over the years and they still look brand new.

Yesterday was fucking sick! A carload of my friends from MA came up to skate and hangout in Portland and together with some Portland heads we had a great day of skating in town.

I met up with the fellas at the skate park and took this picture of Mukasa 5050ing the handrail on our way out to skate some spots.

I got out of work today and went straight out skating with jay Brown and Ben Cironi. The weather was so good and everybody was stoked to skate. We hit up a couple spots and then ended up at the bank on Marginal Way.
